Roof top units

There is always an argument between HVAC technicians and roofers when a leak is evident near a roof top unit. The roofer says “It isn’t my roof” and the HVAC guy says “It isn’t my unit”. It’s a 50/50 proposition. I’ve seen many units leak. The challenge is proving which is at fault. If you can tarp the unit then the solution is simple. If it leaks again, it’s the roof. If not, it’s the unit. No tarp spreading was required today when we found weaknesses in the wires and conduit feeds of this roof top unit in Vancouver. A little caulking on the top and we got it solved. Good thing I didn’t need to argue with any HVAC guy this time. Some of those guys are large.
