Sometimes it is just too easy

I was in Vancouver today responding to a leak call on a metal roof. When we got to the site and set up our ladder I didn’t even have to go inside to measure where the drip was occurring. It’s not often you find a vent with the top missing. This couldn’t have been more obvious. I repositioned the cap onto the vent and then screw fastened it with 3 self-tapping sheet metal screws. You got to wonder how this came about though? Was someone trying to break into the building? If the wind did it then why is the vent cap not blown completely off the roof. I guess we’ll never know. One thing I do know though. The leak is stopped and I’m onto the next one.
