Where were you?

Another day out of the office

I keep water out

It was 11 years ago yesterday, I was in the Calgary airport waiting to board a flight home to Vancouver. I had just been to my 20-year High School reunion. It was fun to see how people have grown and indeed the generalization that the cool kids were not so cool any more and the “also-rans” were somebodies was mostly proven true. But back to the big news story of the decade. I never got to fly that day and it took me 2 more days before air traffic was back on some sort of regularity so I could return home. What happened that day was shocking. A masterful terrorist plan successful on 3 out of 4 efforts. It is still unthinkable to us North Americans that actions such as that are able to be done to fellow humans. Heroes were everywhere in New York that day. The people that lost their lives did not wake up and say I’m going to die today. Who would? That day engrained on my mind how important it is to stop and smell some roses along the way. It’s hard to do with the hectic pace we all have in our lives. But I think we all should do it. Never forget the lives that were taken and those who gave their lives. Value ours.
