Today we were in Vancouver doing a re-roofing job on a house. It has a flat roof with wall venting on all perimeters. The builder even cross strapped the deck… which is excellent. Unfortunately the original roofer did not install additional field vents to aid and facilitate the wall venting. Air circulation is at a minimum when it could be maximized with the addition of strategic field vents. The home owner took my advice and had us install additional 12×12 vents in the general field area. Good choice! Speaking of venting… allow me to vent. It’s very disappointing for me to tear off and old roof and/or vent and find an undersized hole in the roof deck. Why would any roofer install a vent and not maximize it’s full potential. Make the hole in the wood the same size as the vent is designed for. When it’s not done that way, it’s just the roofer being lazy. There is no laziness in this Vancouver roofers company. The photo attached shows the size of the hole we cut for a 12×12 vent. It’s a 12×12 hole. What a concept! Come on all you other Vancouver roofing contractors. Do us proud.
