With my recent posts about Roof Maintenance we feel it necessary to reiterate the need for safety when considering accessing any roof level. Safety is critical in any job, no matter if you are an office worker or construction professional, we all want to make it home at the end of the day to be with our loved ones. In the case of roof access and roof travel the risk of injury is higher then average, so whether you are a seasoned roofer or a property owner doing routine inspections and maintenance, certain safety parameters must be adhered to. The essential tool for accessing roof levels is a ladder. I strongly encourage buyers of ladders to initially not be too focused on price. First thing to determine is the height requirement. Do not use step ladders to access your roof. A good quality extension or telescopic ladder is ideal. We recommend buying the highest grade available. This investment is one that will last indefinitely and worth the added cost. Once you have chosen your grade and height, the price can then be shopped.

Finally it is imperative that you do not do this work alone. Always have a helper. They will aid in set up of the ladder, monitor your actions while on the roof, and assist in dismounting and removal.
